Booker T Jones was only 17 when they recorded Green Onions.
The House band of Stax/Volt, they played on numerous Atlantic Soul classics.
Original Band members all became soul and blues legends; Booker T Jones, Lewis Steinberg, , Steve Cropper, Al Jackson Jr. Donald 'Duck' Dunn joined later in 65, with others joining in on later reunions.
The track has featured in numerous film soundtracks...
According to various interviews over the years, the group name stands for Memphis Group but was possibly originally a reference to the British MG sports car. The reference was changed when lawyers got involved!
