I have proposed to my friends to do an experiment 🤔
Near my house recently opened a burger shop and we are aware that they are not accepting bitcoin, so during this week each of us will go on different days trying to buy several burgers paying with bitcoin, to the refusal we will simply thank them and leave.
Next week we will go again asking same question... maybe it will be a good way to shake their heads, the fact is that I want taste the burger, but m only if they want my sats.
My intention is not to troll or bother the business, just to show them that they are losing customers, which is true, will they finally agree to hear our requests?
to be the devils advocate - you're creating an artificial demand that is likely not there at all.
How many burgers do you need to eat there and pay with sats that the investment from the business into figuring out how to accept bitcoin, do taxes etc. Will you keep going there weekly for months or years to make that viable? will they net benefited out of this or will this be just another "orange pill" story where in the end you bought couple burgers and maybe one other customer once a year pays with bitcoin, leaving the business owner for the worse, making him tell all his friends that it was a waste of time?

I think anytime you can casually mention Bitcoin to folks and it isn't related to investment or speculation it is a good thing. I agree with you it is artificial demand but I am sure if the business starts accepting bitcoin and the food is good the OP and their friends will dine their frequently.

Sure, bitcoiners don't speculate, don't even look at the price, just teach, learn, share and have fun 🤠🍻

One of my favourite days on SN was a couple months ago when price ripped from 39k to 43k or something like that and we were all still shooting the shit about everything else. Not one person mentioned the price was up 10%.
I am sure we are all guilty of looking at the price too often and speculating where it will go but I think broadly Bitcoiners (at least on SN) know what they own and are confident in it and don't spend too much time talking about price. Unless of course we are betting on when it will hit 100k so the Snail can stop posting snails.

They are located next to my house, obviously if we like the burger and they accept bitcoin both me and my friends will be regular customers

This is what "toxic bitcoin maximalism" should be about, lol
Also great GIF. I see great potential in you.
Btw, when they start to accept bitcoin onchain, tell them the best you can do is a lightning transaction.
reply
I always stress that lightning is indispensable, brw it costs nothing to help them set up a wallet and send them some sats, they will be just as excited, or even more excited than when they get their first bitcoin, plus they will see first hand how easy it is to use lightning in their day to day business
reply
Wait no, I have a better response. Tell them that the best you can do is to pay via zaps on SN if they sell their burgers on ~Agora
reply
Of course I will do it

Looking forward to know how this turns out, keep us posted.

Good way of getting you banned there.

Any update in this experiment?

I'd go a step further. If able to, enter a discussion on why they should accept. How it benefits them. They should be the ones to initiate this kind of question. Also, offer help on getting started. If you or your friends are able to, offer to spin up a BTCPay server and test-drive with them.
In summary, show them the value proposition and what can be achieved with sovereignty.

Keep up updated. If they do start accepting bitcoin post their lightning address so we can zap them.
