The recent comments from Powell and company are something like, "We need to catch up to the efficiencies other countries are gaining with their CBDCs lest we lose dollar supremacy". There is a dishonest switch of cards in that statement. The dollar isn't losing supremacy because the Chinese made a CBDC first -- what a joke.
It's losing its place as the premier currency because of the complete devaluation of the dollar via inflation and Cantillon effect, along with shutting Russia out of SWIFT, escalations in Eurasia, the general "incompetency" of the elites. (It's not incompetency it's structured kleptocracy).
Their solution is to force you to get a digital ID, presumably switch to yield curve control AFTER some quantitative tightening to really make it hurt, and then keep everything "solvent" via Japan style printing. Oh and war.
