Dear Satoshi,

The first time I heard about Bitcoin was when WikiLeaks started accepting bitcoin donations, after their bank accounts were closed. It was one of the saddest episodes in contemporary history.
But it wasn't until around 2012 that I started following it more regularly. That was the beginning of my journey. A journey of study, a lot of study, struggle, and a lot of suffering. Study that fueled an unshakable conviction, which was essential to understand, to separate the wheat from the chaff, to overcome those moments of doubt generated by volatility. Which is always very hard, especially in our first cycle, where we question everything, sometimes even our own existence.
“What doesn’t kill me only makes me stronger”
We also had to endure many looks, comments of contempt and derision from others. It has always been a struggle against the tide.
We have been and continue to be treated as criminals, where the only crime we commit is fighting for freedom. A fight that is only just beginning. They are creating aberrations that surpass Orwell’s imagination. It is a dystopia that only we are fighting against. The rest of society doesn’t care.
We are living in a strange period in human history. Now some of us are being seen as a piggy bank, attracting the friends of others. More than ever, anonymity is essential. You were right about that too. Even though I am a discreet person, I admit that I am a little afraid. Now I hardly talk about Bitcoin in public.
Despite discovering it early, I ended up spending almost everything, like almost everyone in my generation did. We all have our own “pizzas.” Today, each “pizza” would be worth thousands of euros. The regret didn’t kill me, it only strengthened my conviction.
It was my political convictions that brought me here, and they are the same ones that keep me here. The dream of a better world. Your creation gave me hope, gave me meaning, a purpose in life. But I’m not a hypocrite either. It’s good to see sats gaining purchasing power.
I don’t have any complexes about my idea, but I would like to be 20 years old again, just to be able to follow the evolution of Bitcoin for more years. The evolution of a currency is a very slow process, it takes several decades. They will probably miss some stages for the hegemony of Bitcoin. That makes me a little sad, I confess.
Satoshi, the sad thing is that after these long years of struggle, we will be remembered by others with a simple: “you were lucky…”
Only we understand the work that luck gave!
Thank you for everything, especially for giving HOPE, that a better and more just world is possible.

Congratulations on your 15th anniversary.

I remember one day in 2012 on a bus talking and asking a friend, what is money? Another guy that wasn't talking with us shouted out the one word nobody seemed to dare say. Seems like yesterday.
