Whatever we might think about it, if you tune in to the dominant btc ethos for the last decade, and the cypherpunk ethos that it sprung from, the most prominent self-presentation is _extremely_ adversarial to the state.

They [literally](https://groups.csail.mit.edu/mac/classes/6.805/articles/crypto/cypherpunks/may-crypto-manifesto.html), say it, repeatedly.  Some of the [sacred cows](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Democracy:_The_God_That_Failed) also moo it.  So I can't blame a person for taking it seriously.
