I've been asking a lot of questions about lightning channels (https://stacker.news/items/38221). I'm just about ready to create a few. But Im wondering:

1. How can one lose sats maintaining lightning channels?

2. On the flip side, are there ways to prevent losing sats? If so, what are they (I.e. larger channel size, tweaking routing fees, backing up channels, watchtowers)? 

Note: I'm fine losing sats since I'm in this for the long haul and learning experience. Just want to know what I'm getting into.
