Roy Cleveland Sullivan was a ranger in the United States, more precisely in Shenandoah National Park, Virginia.

He entered the Guinness Book of Records because between 1942 and 1977, Sullivan was struck by lightning on seven different occasions, which earned him the nickname "Human Lightning Rod".

Each of the rays that hit Sullivan took its toll, causing him to lose his eyebrows, toenails, have his hair burned and even suffer burns to his chest.

Despite having survived these seven episodes, he died on September 28, 1983, at the age of 71, after a self-inflicted gunshot, possibly in response to a heartbreak.
