You seem to get a lot of comments but not a lot of zaps on these threads.

some territories are moderated

I'm not saying you're wrong. And I'm not saying I disagree.

Because you're not... And I don't. In fact I fully agree.

I feel there's a pocket of SN users who are quite zap happy. And then there's a portion of SN (that I'm starting to think is a larger portion) that's very frugal with their sats.

So what do I take from this. One the one hand you could say that the thread is getting engagement so people want to use it... But like you identified... Everybody likes but nobody zaps, and if people vote with their sats, that would suggest that it isn't providing the value they want.

There will ofcourse come a point where the cost of territories will exceed my personal threshold and their current inability to be self sustainable could become a huge problem. We've already seen numerous territories fall by the waste side. I'm unsure what the solution is.

I was talking with sigs in the saloon about "lazy link posts" and I decided to turn off link only posts, from my mind, if you want to link something, great! Have something to say about it to encourage discussion... Instead however, the link is just posted in the body of the discussion with nothing else 😂😂.

I think people like yourself as an example and F it I'll throw my name in there have done decent jobs with encouraging engagement in their territories, but you gotta ask occasionally. Are you beating a dead horse? Or is the horse just a really really deep sleeper 🤣

Went off on a tangential rant, but it is a bug bear of mine, someone comments on my post or replies to me, they've taken the time and effort to do that, I'm zapping them. And I see that same attitude from some of SN and it is largely the same names. I'm seeing a lot of new names, and that's greatly encouraging, I'd like to see them contributing back to SN economy. I think it is a systemic societal issue. I mentioned in another post (I don't recall where sorry 😔) about how people are used to consuming media for free (or a subscription they don't notice) where it's free at the point of use. I think there needs to be a huge change in perception and attitude towards V4V before it as a model sees real growth. TLDR; people are too used to getting stuff for free or free at the point of use, but I'm not sure what the solution is.

Quickly want to add... Rome wasn't built in a day as they say.

End scene 😜

I am totally with you on the engagement thing. When someone goes online and asks for help and doesn't come back and thank the people who have replied to them, least still, even click a like on on it, which is the lamest and laziest thing to do requiring the least amount of effort, I just think that is the height of rudeness. It happened to me again recently. Someone asked for help on something I knew a lot about (even wrote HELP pls), I gave a rather detailed response, then ppl who I follow me must have seen it and chipped in with their advice as well. The person never even came back to thanks any of us.
I was in a particular circle and this happened all the time, so I totally gave up. The lack of appreciation and expectation is staggering. I mean, someone has taken time out of their day to reply to them - to help them - and they can't even click a like. It's when I then tag them to make sure they have seen the post (because you know places like FB don't always give you notifications, you might get super busy, miss it etc) and they still ignore you...... :-( All I can say is I feel used. Maybe I have issues hahaha XDD

I just think if one is going to comment or in this case post a song in a thread they should at least zap the post. Obviously they liked it enough to engage with it.

When you're right you're right. Can't argue with the logic 😜

It's a mindset for sure. It's mixed messages. On the one hand, people vote with their sats. Low sat count, probably people don't care for the content, seems logical sure. But high engagement shows the opposite... Soooo which is it? People want it but are just clutching onto every sat like it's their last one? Or people are a little.indifferent about it and if it wasn't there they wouldn't care.

Just reading this before heading off to bed. Will try to remember to come back and reply tomorrow but I might forget lol. Just want to say, I get what you are saying. I've been zapping non-btc content over on Nostr like a freakin maniac to try to encourage engagement but yeah feels like flogging a dead horse sometimes. tbh I am a bit stingy with amount of zap but I have it set low so I can zap very frequently and not worry too much. There is decent engagement here on SN but I'm looking for more diverse content that isn't the nostr dev / btc echo chamber that nostr is. Sorry hope I'm making sense, I've been up since around 4am and it's 23.30 now :/

Try increasing your zap size on SN and see what happens ;)

I suspect this will be a decent topic of conversation in the weekly foundry. As I'm sure multiple territory owners are coming across the same thing.
