OF course we sound like a stuck record when we keep saying "you will own nothing...... " They get to decide when things are obsolete. Things won't exist any more unless people preserve them. Not that I personally care about games as I am no gamer but same applies to a lot of things.

It's the service economy. It has been implemented in pretty much everything.
Even your own home in big cities is almost impossible to own, you need to keep paying for your services for life.

Game companies also need to be comfortable not owning my money.

Here is my take:
  • Buying a game and fully owning it afterwards is cool
  • subscribing to a monthly service with everyone being in the know that it's a subscription and not buying is cool
  • Pretending it's "buying" but being at their mercy due to online login is not cool

I agree with that. I'm not into games much, but say music. There's a lot of sites of musicians I follow, they have there special monthly subscriptions for mixes, and what not, but I just can't bring myself to pay ~5 bucks for anything to continue to follow output which is not something I need. Other streaming tends to be access to things I've already purchased, and can stream if I want (I don't know why this is valuable) or the service just assumes it can find the right algorithm to keep me interested in other content (which I'm not.) I'd much rather just tip creators and developers with sats when I can and buy something at the price that it's sold for.

Thats what makes markets.

Music is art. People collect art and music. Art is sold at auction houses. Reproductions are sold. Buying music and digital downloads are ways to support artists. Why would anyone not want to own something they can enjoy more than once. To not offer any reason why the idea of renting, streaming or non-ownership of products is 'something needed to get used to' is asinine in itself. I will not rent, stream or pay for subscriptions, fuck your business model, sir.
