Personally I think Mastodon, etc are not going to make it. I'm much more bullish on nostr as I think it solves much of the problems with social media (not completely, but its a solid step in reducing both spam and encouraging quality content).
It's difficult to imagine how several protocols will co-exist, but maybe seamless interoperability will make this possible. We'll see...

I'm sure "bridges / relays" will be a thing....but long term lets consider: If you had a Grade A meme to release and you were sure it was going to be well liked....would you rather (a) Release on Mastodon and get meaningless "likes", or (b) Release on nostr and earn 15,000 sats?
