The serious crash of the euro economy is apparently not enough for the technocrats in Brussels. Negotiators from the European Parliament and the member states reached a ''historic'' agreement on Thursday. The new legislation stipulates that heavy commercial vehicles must reduce their carbon dioxide emissions by at least 90% by 2040. In addition, city buses are to become completely emission-free by 2035. The agreement is in line with the EU Commission's proposal, which envisages a gradual reduction in CO2 emissions, with a 45% reduction in buses and trucks by 2030. The madmen are doubling their efforts in the face of the crash and there is no one far and wide to give them a hand.
