I think that's a fair description -- probably the former in proportion to the latter, but it will take it out of you.  I think they vary in their _intensity_ and you can probably find a more chill one, but if you want to help where help is most needed it will probably tax you in some ways, blow your mind in others.

Any Cat Rescue Volunteers Here?

I don't work at one but frequent them and support them.  The last one I went to reminded me of a surgical hospital at wartime: so much need, much of it urgent, so few resources to meet that need.  I expect if you showed up and said _I'm available to help at these times, is there anything I could do?_ they would gratefully accept.
