The server at https://ftp.halifax.rwth-aachen.de just got new hardware, which should provide faster speeds now and a reliable service for the next few years. Aside from projects/distributions like Debian and Fedora the server also hosts a full bitcoin node, and a nostr relay (wss://ftp.halifax.rwth-aachen.de/nostr).
Currently, around 30 TByte of disk space is still available and I'd like to make use of this by adding even more projects to the server. If you know of any project that meets the following criteria, please let me know (here or at ftp@halifax.rwth-aachen.de)!
Any new project added to the mirror...
  • would benefit from having non-tiny static files like ISO images or packages on the mirror server (made available via HTTP/HTTPs/FTP/rsync)
  • provides a reliable and well-maintained main server to retrieve updated data from (rsync preferred)
  • has lots of users who frequently download the files (from the mirror server's PoV: more data is sent out to users than downloaded, meaning that mirroring the files is actually worth it)
  • is open source or at least non-commercial
