I really don't like the custodial paradigm I've been using and am interested to setup my own lightning node but I'm concerned about force closes and other money-losing bugs.
Does anyone know of a site or article that tracks how long it's been since the last one of these events affected a significant number of users? How about by client? c-lightning vs LND?
Force closes happen every single block. What exactly are you looking for?

A guarantee that no one can give

A reasonable path. I know there are no guarantees. Just want to be able to spend 500k sats a month from my own node with minimal cost/risk.

You can run a private lightning node. If you don't route, there should be less risk.

Going self-custody is the way to go and there is a bit of a learning curve where you get to customize your node to evade the glitches and bugs that might come your way.
