Only recently given the doors the time of day. Never used to listen to them. But more recently have been able to appreciate them more.

For me, it's one of those timeless bands. The topics they cover in their music are still relevant today, and the instrumentals are also very good.

I think as I've got older I appreciate them much more than I did. They were too soft for me as a teenager. Teenage me was kataklysm, behemoth and cannibal corpse that kinda heavy.

I went through that phase too. I used to be 95% metalhead... Without digging too deep, I remember seeing these live:
- Fear Factory
- Marilyn Manson
- Dimmu Borgir
- Cradle Of Filth
- Slipknot
- Godsmack
- etc

Marilyn Manson live is incredible. Amazing show.
But as I matured, I started really listening to the music.
I think metal can be a gateway to music appreciation as what gets lost in the metal scene is some really talented musicians... Listening to the guitars and the drums etc etc helped me understand some complicated techniques which I was then later able to identify across other genres. This helped me appreciate other genres much much more.
One thing I always disliked about the metalhead scene is the unfortunate (like with any group) elitist mentality that some people have. Not all people mind you. But some people (and as a kid I definitely adopted it at times) of "that's not heavy enough therefore it's not real metal"
Now, I enjoy music. Of pretty much all genres, sure like anyone I've got my preferences, but I have lost that elitist toxicity...thankfully.

Toxicity leads nowhere, it only creates conflict.
