Interesting, didn't know how it worked behind the scenes.
Looks like the web is heading into a bad place with reddit, twitter, et al, doing similar things, trying to centralize more and more.

Nitter is not shutting down.
This is a particular instance shutting down their service.
Nitter is open source and anybody can host it.
That said twitter is battling nitter servers by means of heavy throttling.

I’m surprised Nitter lasted this long. I expected this to happen much sooner. Sad that so much of the web is being closed off.
