I find a lot of people say they want extreme decentralization, but in practice they don't want to pay the UX costs. The incentives to adopt decentralized services are extremely weak relative to the UX costs for the average user.
As developers, I think the right way to view this is that users want decentralization to be an option, and IMO it should be, but not a mandate.
Stacker News is a great example of this. As long as I can withdraw the bitcoin to my own wallet, i am perfectly happy using a well-functioning centralized website for the service itself
