Calling Crypto equities (Marathon, Hut8, etc…) miners is archaic and needs to change.
Especially for the general public that don’t have a positive associate with the word “miner”.
What are some better options? Transaction Validator? Blockchain publishers?
As Bitcoin moves towards mainstream adoption, I think some of our verbiage is going to need updating so that there are less misconceptions.
Nonce generators just doesn't resonate like "miners" though.

I have heard this sentiment before. I'd tend towards the idea of changing it, but I'm not convinced it's worth the effort to do it at this stage. If we are going to change it then we must do it soon because it'll reach a point of no return eventually.
As for alternate terms, I like and would personally suggest 'verifier' but I'm not particularly attached to anything. Unless I hear a more convincing argument this isn't something I'd be putting any of my own effort towards, but as and when terminology does evolve I will happily adopt whatever people are using in the space as long as it's reasonable. So my own suggestion or either or your terms would be acceptable to me.
I also do absolutely agree that we need to think more going forwards how we term things. Public perception is absolutely relevant. However, we must also remember that most of the technical side of Bitcoin will be obscured to the layman so it's not always important to consider these things.
