Subtitle: Empowering Content Creators and Enhancing User Experience

Introduction:

In the ever-evolving landscape of content creation, the importance of supporting creators has never been more evident. Recognizing this, we propose a groundbreaking enhancement to stacker.news—introducing a seamless paywall feature. This feature aims to empower content creators, offering them a novel way to monetize their content, while simultaneously enhancing the user experience for stacker.news enthusiasts.

Making it Easier for Content Creators:

Content creators play a pivotal role in shaping the narrative and fostering community engagement. Our first objective is to simplify the process for these creators to implement paywalls on their posts. By doing so, we aim to encourage more creators to share their unique perspectives and valuable content with the stacker.news community.

Feature to Access Paywalled Content:

Central to this proposal is the introduction of a feature allowing content creators to set up paywalls for their posts. This feature not only adds a layer of exclusivity to their content but also introduces the exciting possibility of including links to private videos or documents accessible only through the paywall.

Paywall Button for Qualified Users:

To strike a balance between accessibility and exclusivity, we suggest the implementation of a paywall button. This button becomes available to users who meet specific criteria—having stacked at least 10,000 Satoshi and contributed over 500 posts on stacker.news. This ensures that the paywall feature is reserved for active and engaged members of the community.

Partial Visibility for All Users:

Maintaining transparency and encouraging user engagement, we propose a system where a portion of the post remains visible to all users. This approach offers a preview of the content, enticing users to explore further.

Paywall Activation:

Activating a paywall should be a seamless process. Content creators can enable a paywall for their post with a simple click of a button, promoting a user-friendly experience for both creators and consumers.
The true innovation lies in the fact that the link to external content is accessible only after a user engages with the paywall. Whether it's a link to a private YouTube video or a document accessible only with a specific link, this feature ensures that users get exclusive access to premium content.

User Engagement and Rating System:

To foster a sense of community involvement, users clicking on a paywall are required to make a payment to access the full content. Additionally, a rating system allows users to provide feedback on the usefulness of the paid content, helping creators refine their offerings.
In a bid to encourage active engagement and evaluation, other links on stacker.news will be temporarily deactivated until the user rates the paid content. This ensures that users actively participate in the community and provide valuable insights.

Visibility of Paywall Statistics:

Transparency is key. Users will have visibility into statistics related to paywalls, including the number of individuals who paid for the content and the ratings provided by each user. This not only adds a layer of accountability but also allows for a more informed and engaged community.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, the introduction of paywalls on stacker.news is a transformative step towards empowering content creators and enhancing the overall user experience. By striking a balance between exclusivity and accessibility, we envision a more vibrant and engaged community that values and supports the diverse content that makes stacker.news a hub for information and discussion. Together, let's revolutionize content monetization and bring about positive change within the stacker.news ecosystem.
It's a good idea, but it seems a bit early to implement that feature. Wouldn't it alienate the stackers instead of bringing them ?

wouldnt it attract more serious content generators to stacker ? Think about a neurosurgeon who can record the entire 10 hour surgery with detailed description and stuff - the value of the content is immense - if the value is paid by 1000 junior emerging neurosurgeons from across the world?
reply
There are a lot of things that senior experienced experts who are planning their retirement can train their juniors using videos
As on today there are no much options to do this easily
Specialised territories can be created in specialised areas of science , like genomics, nanotechnology etc where the experts share their quality video tutorials accessible by juniors across the globe and these experts gets access to some free satoshis in exchange of their aquired knowledge which can later protect them from hyperinflating dollar

These are definitely good ideas. At the moment, I'm like @Scoresby, when he questions the userbase. I also have some doubts if these features will be a priority for the @sn. I think they are good features to implement in the near future. my 2 sats ...

I agree with this. It's a cool feature suggestion, but I don't think the userbase is robust enough yet.

As of now there is no platform in the world where it is very easy to transfer payment like lightning payment for thunder content
Lets bring in thunder content to stacker news?

did someone just re-invented hot water again?
I don't think paywalls aligns with the value4value model SN adopts. I assume the idea here is to provide value for... whatever are you going to get back will be driven by the value your content provide to the community.
No sats? No problem, probably your content was not aligned with SN values and would better suited to other platforms/communities.
Suggestion: learn how to use the search before posting, it will save you a lot of precious time ;)
PS: second suggestion keep SN clean. Thanks

There can be an initial high fee like 10k Satoshi for a paywalled Post And 33% of the Post satoshi will go to Stacker.News rewards
