This is neat and creative - most folk assume PRs are native to git when they're some frankensteined thing from github.
You can imagine constructing a github-like experience around patches:
- you'd also send issues this way
- allow commenting and giving line by line feedback on patches
- a client could consume and display this info
- client would simply mirror a remote repo the user specifies
