Good Morning, Push-up Stackers! Today is Monday and that means it's the Moon day. I look out my window this morning and I see the Moon in her last quarter phase. I'm no expert by any means but when I do the research on something as common as the Moon it opens up a lot of mental doors that were previously compartmentalized by the way I received my education. I blame no one but myself. It's not like I didn't know where the library was.

Unicode

The Unicode Character for the Moon in it's last quarter is “☾” (U+263E). For Linux this is CTRL+SHIFT+U, then type in the code "263E". You will see "u263E", then ENTER and you will see the last quarter Moon symbol ☾.

🗲 20240205 ☾ Monday 100aDaytill100k 🗲 Yin, Moon

The Moon as far as, an astronomical observance, must have been the first great object of focus for early man. The Sun also may have been but the odd thing about the Sun is that during the day it reveals all on the planet but at night the moon and the darkness reveal much more. It is easy to see how the feminine aspect is attributed to darkness and the masculine is to light. Luna, the Moon guides us in the night as she moves through constellations.
The Yin energy in Toaism, I Ching and Chinese Cosmology is attributed to the Moon.
Yin 陰 or 阴 — Noun: ① [philosophy] female/passive/negative principle in nature, ② Surname; Bound morpheme: ① the moon, ② shaded orientation, ③ covert; concealed; hidden, ④ vagina, ⑤ penis, ⑥ of the netherworld, ⑦ negative, ⑧ north side of a hill, ⑨ south bank of a river, ⑩ reverse side of a stele, ⑪ in intaglio; Stative verb: ① overcast, ② sinister; treacherous -- Yin of Yin Yang
As we discussed yesterday for Sunday the Sun's ancient symbol was a circle with a dot. In Chinese, Japanese and Korean the Yin and Yang symbol is a Light "paisley" or almond shape and a dark almond shape merged together within a circle and each "almond" shape has its own vortex with an opposite colored dot.
The Unicode Character “☯” (U+262F) shows this.
The Yin and Yang was one of the first symbols I would draw as a child. I would draw this, the hexagram and swastika. I was fascinated by these symbols. The Yin-yang I got from Bruce Lee movies and other Kung-Fu or martial arts films. The hexagram I got from hanging out at the JCC (Jewish Community Center) and the swastika I got from television and movies , mostly Hogan's Hero's [footnote 1]. Such is the life of a young man.
Now back to Yin and the Moon. Below is an image of a Freemason 1st Degree tracing board. The main symbols are:
  1. black and white floor
  2. Masculine and Feminine columns; Sun, Moon and All Seeing eye
  3. Compass
  4. Square
  5. Level
  6. Plumb bob
Every one of the symbols are about balance but the tracing board also suggests that getting caught in the polarity is ignorance. This is where the initiate learns that he is on the floor. The floor is the chess board.
This kind of makes you look at the push-up a little differently. Your will takes you to prostrate, get down to the bottom and push up to the top. Start the day by humbly going to the floor and pushing off of it. It's your launch pad.
In my personal career I have been a concrete mason, or as we called our selves, a form carpenter for over 30 years. The tools of masonry were used and still are used every day but the deep lessons can not be taught until one is ready to understand true balance. I've worked in other fields but that is how I farmed my fiat. Currently I build piers for people so I work on the water and I have to pay attention to the tides, weather, balance of materials and durability of the construction.
Inwardly as a 54 year old man I have to pay attention to my health, family, children, grandchildren, friends, coworkers and so much more. As I get older the symbols, words and experiences of the common world end up becoming a great cathedral or temple. Inside my body is a temple. Between my ears is a temple. Outside there is the Universe that is a temple.
My grandfather was a 32nd degree mason. I once asked him what was the purpose of Freemasonry. He told me the goal was to build the Temple of Solomon. I had no idea what he was talking about. At the time I was focused on a lot of bullshit, so I missed an opportunity to learn. As I have previously stated the Temple of Solomon is Sol, the Sun and Mon, the Moon. Masculine and Feminine in union symbolically as the hexagram. It is also the left and right hemispheres of the cerebral cortex working together.

My Progress Today

Today I have 55 down and I need 45 more to go. If you are wondering what the #100aDayTill100k is about please refer to @grayruby and the post: 100 a day until 100k

  1. Hogan's Heros was and is still a brilliant series. It is propaganda but it also has a very interesting history. The actors who played Shultz and Colonel Klink were both Jewish and had both served in the United States Army. The actor who played Colonel Klink stipulated that he would only play the character if Colonel Klink always was the looser. 12 incredibly true facts about 'Hogan's Heroes'

9 days of 100 push ups until 100k down. Undetermined to go. 5 days of 100 squats until 100k down. Undetermined to go.
When I hit 21 days I will add another exercise.

I'm still doing situps, squats but not as aggressively. I'm thinking of doing 10 pushups, then 10 squats in a series just to knock them out early and allow a longer repair time.

Damn.. I miss the long talks with my granddads.. One only realize this many years after.
Nice post.. The Temple is a nice analogy

Yes, the eye of Horus I discussed yesterday. I did not cover the above, though. I've listened to Mark Passio, Robert Sepehr and many others regarding this subject.
Thank you for adding. Like Bitcoin, the dialogue increases learning as you will see things I don't and understand things better or just make more connections.
The pineal gland is an interesting aspect. But accident I stopped using fluoride toothpaste last year and I'm able to make better mental connections with things. It could be a placebo, too but so of this not investigated is not the sadness I want to pursue.
Grandfather is a blessing. I've had interesting conversations with my granddaughter now!

Alright, I'm done! I finished earlier before12.
I did 25+20+10+10+15+10+10
That seemed to work well as the last 4 I did in 20 minutes. My goal was to have a longer muscle repair period.
I might integrate the squats too. Well see.
