I don't understand the question. Leftovers from eating out?
Because at home we always cook amounts that we will eat for 2-3 days. Isn't that what everybody does? It just saves time, plus you can't know the exact amount you will eat while cooking!
Sure, after 2-3 days we would give the "leftovers" to the dogs and cats and cook something else...
We know people that eat the food for dinner, then dispose of the rest because they refuse to "eat the same thing 2 days in a row"
The kicker might be that these people are not wealthy. They are dual-income families who do not have a lot to spare.

Not only saves time, you also save energy cooking a larger amount at once than cooking half of the same amount 2 times. Re-heating consumes far less energy than cooking.
