My kiddo stays up to 11-12pm lately and I feel guilty asking to go to bed in the other room early so I can be alert at 4:00am.

Yes.
Going to bed and getting up early is also low time preference behavior.

Geez. I wake up at 5.30am (partly to do household chores), and already I’m lamenting about my lack of sleep.
Fill up your tank first. You are not gonna be good to your children if you always feel zombified.
I sleep earlier than my wife. That helps me wake up early enough to entertain my two children. It’s 9.45am on a Saturday here, and she is still sleeping. Maybe you and your partner can work something along these lines!

Yes, definitely. Talk about a schedule with your significant other. Maybe if you need to go to bed early, when you get back from work you can take over watching your kiddo and they can nap if needed.
