Assume I want to be able to have a watch-only wallet, with the ability to generate new receive addresses. Say, on my phone, in Blue Wallet, from a wallet that I originally created in another tool.
If I double-check the upcoming receive addresses, and confirm that they're the same in BOTH tools, am I assured that I'm not going to have problems with the tools using different derivation paths or script type?
The reason I ask is that I've had this problem before, and it was pretty tough to figure out. One tool showed the transaction/correct amount, and the other didn't.
If I can just check the first couple receive addresses before doing any transactions, and they match, am I good?
if the first couple of receive addresses are good... all the rest should be the same. In any case, the money would not be lost, it would be a matter of finding the different derivation path.

Thanks. Once you know about things like derivation path, etc., it would be less anxiety provoking.
So in general, the fact that the receive addresses are the same between 2 different wallet tools - this means that the derivation path/script type are also the same?
reply
yes. You should also be able to generate many receives addresses in advance, not just the next one. That may depend on the wallet. Then you could compare all of them
