You're comparing apples to oranges really. iPhone is a device. Android is an operating system.

reply

It's comparing apples to green robots

reply

iPhone means iOS, so it's not only device, but also OS.

reply

Only because it's a closed silo. If it were really your device then you could install whichever operating system you wanted.

reply

Actually by jailbreaking it's possible to run Linux on some iPhone models. https://www.xda-developers.com/apple-iphone-7-ubuntu-linux-checkra1n-project-sandcastle/

reply

Dont know @kristapsk iphone is a tangible thing but android no. ;)

Both run on Unix/Linux

reply

Unix and GNU/Linux.

GNU stands for "GNU's Not Unix!", so as the name implies, it's a different OS.

reply

Free software or closed silo?.

I'm not ready to sell my freedom for iphone. I'm from the era when phones looked different

reply

Less privacy on android

reply

GrapheneOS has excellent privacy.

reply

Less advertised privacy.

reply

I have a GrapheneOS phone, but I really don't like it very much. I miss my iPhone

reply

I have Bitcoin, but I really don't like it very much. I miss my dollars

reply

iOS is simple and clean

reply

The user experience just isn't even close on Android and even worse on graphene. I'm not willing to put up with the ios privacy theater though.

reply

I switched in october 23 on grapheneOS from my iPhone. I absolutly agree that android is not even close to ios. I was a bit of a shock for me xD But, where shadows are there is also light. The installation from opensource apps was really refreshing for me. After 4 months I understand a bit more why privacy is a path to walk through and not a apprupt change. With my independence through grapheneOS, I no longer plan to switch back to iOS.

surprised to see android beating iphone in this poll

reply

Unfortunately, none of those.

We are really lacking a free (as in freedom) OS for mobile devices. There are several different attempts, but none of them got traction.

The best you can do is to use some custom Android builds that get rid of Google.

reply

Yeah, GrapheneOS for example.

reply

Never owned apple, never will.

reply

When I'm on an iphone I feel like i'm in kindergarten.

  • Turn off Wifi!

Well ok but when I think it's needed I will turn it back on.

Iphone is for people who need a nanny.

reply

Where is my option: Solana Mobile ?

reply

iPhone is FIAT tech

reply

iPhone, overall is solid phone like it or not.

My favorite Android device is the Nvidia Shield Pro, still little better than the Apple TV.

reply

Because never used iPhone before. Android is okay for me. No need for another device.

reply

Android.

It's Linux, I can run any app that I want in it, I can run a terminal, SSH, whatever. I can even run another OS, like GrapheneOS on it.

With iPhone I get zero control.

reply

I go for Android every time and in every lifetime

reply

Android, of course.

reply

android is just a robot
apple is juicy

logical instance :D

I’m gonna have to go iOS. But with where apple is headed, I could see me jumping ship within the next few years.

reply

Locked in a long time ago. Gonna be painfull to switch to Graphyne, etc.

reply

I've gotten used to Calyx. Some things need improving though. Maps and notifications mostly.

Apple make a great product, but they're still exploiting and controlling all your info. For me no more apple. Waiting for the graphine on apple for my old devices

reply

With an asterisk
*graphene
