Do you really believe what you're saying? How will Microsoft or Google control an open source project? The direction and goals of OpenBSD have been very specific for decades and in fact they don't stray in the slightest. Now where you are deriving what you are saying I don't understand.
Microsoft is monitoring this project and many others for reliability, security and of course the SSH that everyone uses. Whether it's BSD, linux or Windows users...
Years of experience. Microsoft funds you, waits until you are vulnerable, yanks the funding, offers to help you IF you will do um a favor. The fact this surprises you means you are either a) young or b) with Microsoft either directly, or indirectly.

Microsoft is the 5th largest contributor to linux core and joined in 2016 linux foundation. That's all I have to say. Should I expect an announcement from the linux kernel developers soon? Which serious project doesn't have donations from those you describe as "devils"?

Then all the talk about sudo being merged into Microsoft didn't come as a shock, right? It's an embrace, as I said. Gradually, little things start happening and suddenly useful project X is axed or acquired.
I don't keep track of what projects are "serious". I keep track of some that are useful. Usefulness has nothing to do with budget. It sometimes does.

Theo De Raadt created in 1999 OpenSSH. Today Microsoft, Linux and BSD systems uses SSH. What can we do about that? Is it bad? No, its something useful. If Microsoft embraces something useful is not creator's fault. Sorry you are wrong.

Yeah, DOS all ready settled this discussion years ago where Microsoft is concerned. If they can get their fingers in it or copy it, they will do it and extinguish the actual source. I'm not going to argue with you any more on the point, since it appears to me you are a Microsoft fanboy/fangirl/fanwerewolf or whatever.

Lol... Yeah I am a Microsoft fan and windows 93 user. Since this discussion is going nowhere let's get down to basics. Projects that have been open source and focused on specific goals for decades do not cause me fear or concern even if they are funded by anonymous people who may be malicious hackers or microsoft. As long as things are open and don't change direction from what we all know there is nothing to worry about... If OpenBSD change goals I will honestly remember you. Take care.

Thank you for the link. Hypothetically in the future a lot can happen. But do I have the right to consider now OpenBSD a very worthwhile project that provides security by default and has things to offer?
