Signal offers better privacy than WhatsApp.
Not sure what's preventing people from using Signal.

Still requires a phone number, and still uses a central server. Cannot be self hosted.
Alternatives:
- Sphinx Chat (works over lightning)
- Matrix (self-hosted equivalent to slack/discord)

User base mostly. It was the same with telegram back in the early days,also a the wast majority of the people don't care about privacy, they want convenience

People are using Signal, just not talking about it that much ;)
There are some nice peer to peer exchanges on Signal... a friend said.
