I'm nothing like a professional photographer but I have many fond memories of Bangkok from ~2006. I love gritty infrastructure and the people there are amazing. Best food. We tried Durian as soon as we got out of the airport and it was mind-blowing, fresh cut. When we flew back out, we stopped at a vendor and got some more durian and he wrapped it up in plastic and again in a plastic bag and my wife put it at the bottom of her backpack under some clothes. The taxi driver immediately sniffed the air and said, "you have durian?" and then he laughed and explained that there was no way we would be able to get through the airport with it :)

The region has developed so much in the past 20 years. I only first visited Thailand in 2015 but then I spent almost all of 2020 there (opting out of the pandemic...). Met my wife during that time and have been back in 2022 and 2023. Certainly plan to spend a lot of time there going forward. What I love about Thailand is that it's kind of a melting pot for Asia, far more cosmopolitan and on-trend (or even trend setting on some things) that many people realize even outside of Bangkok in Chiang Mai or Phuket. Bangkok is hands down the best food city in the world in my opinion - full spectrum for every kind of Asian and European cuisine at Michelin star quality.
