Vox Populi Registry Inc. is the registry operator for the .sucks generic top-level domain (TLD). The company was founded in 2012 and is headquartered in Grand Cayman. The .sucks TLD was one of the first new TLDs to be somehow delegated and approved by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) in 2015.
It has obviously been controversial since its inception. Some critics have argued that it is primarily used for cybersquatting and that it allows users to create domains that are intended to harm the reputations of others. Others have defended the .sucks gTLD, arguing that it provides a platform for free speech and that it can be used to express negative opinions about companies or individuals.
In 2018, Vox Populi Registry Inc. was sued by the Wikimedia Foundation, the operator of Wikipedia, over the registration of the domain wikipedia.sucks. The case was eventually settled out of court.
The .sucks TLD remains a controversial topic, but it is clear that it has had a significant impact on the landscape of domain names. Did you ever get one? or browse any site using this TLD?
Can't wait to see a fully-operational fiat.sucks website, explaining why Bitcoin is thousands times better that those worthless pieces of papers that we carry in our wallets.
