Considering the perpetuity of this website as possible, and much of what is written here may become historical documentation, as happens with bitcointalk.org, I was attracted to the post that posted this title first, , thinking it was asking about what 1 BTC could buy this day where you live, but their approach was hugely superior than my thoughts: the author was asking for ways to explain children and NPCs what are you buying when you buy a Bitcoin.
Anyway, I thought it would be funny, while nobody knows if someone will read it in 10 years considering the longevity of this website, to tell today what $ 50.000 buys where you live.
Tell the freshest in your head, no scope given here.
I'll begin:
Where I live today (831005) you can buy with 1 BTC:
- a 2 bedrooms house in a not-so-poor neighborhood;
- 1 year rent of a 3 or 4 bedrooms house in a far better neighborhood;
- one Camaro or a diesel SUV or even a truck;
- a family of four could live for two years, without nobody having to work and the kid's in a private school paying around $160 USD each per month, having dinner out once a week and eating varieties of good meat every day if they want, paying rent in a not-so-poor countryside city, ceteris paribus;
- a single guy could spend around $1000/month and live eating out six times a week in not-so-expensive restaurants, renting a 2 bedroom condo in a not-so-small city for 50 months, ceteris paribus.
What about where you live and what you consume? History may be curious about how a whole Bitcoin could change your life.
