Hi, Curious about people's experience with the phone number + data service via silent.link

Ive been trying out jmp.chat, but i like that silent.link you can pay with lightning. With the phone service, are you able to call emergency services like 911? jmp.chat phone service says wont work for calling local emergency services.

I used silent link for an esim for a few months. My experience was pretty great.

I used it for data only (did calling/texting via messaging apps like signal).
Paid in lightning.
Very affordable.
Instantly downloaded esim once I paid.
Sometimes had trouble with networks when out in rural areas.

Been using it about a year now. US with no #. I use JMP or other burner number sites. I really like it since I'm on wifi usually anyway so It's actually been cheaper than my other kyc'd prepaid plans I've had before. Only drawbacks I've noticed is in rural areas you might not get coverage for a while as the phone tries to connect to other Providers. Also for Banking apps (you'll probably get a Polish IP from Silent.Link) so you will need to use them on wifi only or trigger security alerts. Someone not knowing this could be caught offguard, but it's fine for me. A few people at our Meetups have started using them and they all seem to love it too. Overall - Highly Recommended

ive got the esim silent link and a jmp chat #.. i think its gonna cost me about $14 a month 👀

my only concern with this setup is if you need to dial 911 you cant, so was wondering if you could dial 911 with a silent link #, but sounds like no.

fyi, im not gonna let the emergency # thing stop me from using somecombo of privacy forward services

its so cheap I would highly recommend just giving it a try to figure out for yourself how it works. Its so cheap and easy just start with it as a second phone on some cheap used phone to test out. You can only have outgoing calls via data based apps - e.g. a Signal call. Even if you pay for a phone number you cannot place outgoing traditional phone calls. its a tradeoff to get a KYC free experience that a telecom will still deal with to mitigate spam potential. I use and enjoy it very much. its very easy and works well even when traveling, though you will not have every bell and whistle of a traditional phone plan and company. If you are comfortable somewhat figuring out minor potential tech issues yourself then youll be totally fine, but if you are totally tech illiterate to the point where you wont google or youtube to figure it out and need to go to a physical store with any problem then its probably not for you. They do have customer service but its limited online chat.
