I just realized that I put today's date for yesterday's recap post title. Yesterday's recap post title should have been 2024-02-23 but I used today's date instead. Sorry about the mistake and the confusion. Now, onto the real 2024-02-24 - NBA Recap.
Only 3 games tonight, which makes writing the recap much quicker. To start things off, the Timberwolves destroyed the Nets. KAT got 28 and Ant got 29. One interesting stat that caught my eyes was that the Nets grabbed 16 offensive boards, 10 more than the Timberwolves. The Nets tried their best to keep the game close, and it remained close until late in the 4th when the Timberwolves went on a run and never looked back. The Nets ended up getting beat by 15 points.
The Celtics vs Knicks game was fun. Brunson and his crew kept things close in the first half, but got outscored in the 3rd and was not able to recover. Brunson's 34 point game was not enough and he did not receive too much help from his teammates. The Celtics simply had too much talent and scoring, and ended up beating the Knicks by 14 points.
Finally, the Magic vs Pistons game was a close game all the way through. The score was tight, with several lead changes throughout the game. The Magic tried to pull away early in the 4th quarter, at one point leading by as much as 11 points, but the Pistons fought back and kept things close. It came down to the wire, 109-105 Magic leads with a minute and a half to go. Cade Cunningham came up big by scoring a mid range fade away near the foul line. With the Magic and the Pistons failing to score on both of their next possessions, Banchero drives to the baseline and attempts a missed shot, but foul was called. Banchero proceeded to miss both free throws, Pistons grabbed the rebound and used their last timeout to advance the ball. 17 seconds left, the ball was inbounded to Cunningham who took a drive to the basket, past 3 defenders, and scored a layup. Strong move by a strong man. Tie game 109-109, with 12 seconds to play, Magic took their final timeout to advance the ball. The ball was inbounded to Banchero, who started dribbling and dancing around to kill time for a last shot. And we come to my subjective play of the day, Banchero's game winning shot.
Thank you for reading today's recap. 11 games scheduled for tomorrow, which means there will be a big wall of text. Feel free to share your thoughts by commenting below. Cheers and have a good night!
