There's something of a desperate scramble amongst researchers to explain why none of their catastrophes have come to pass.
They knew the eastern US had trees when they made their forecasts, so they don't get to say they're "stalling" global warming. They were just wrong and don't want to admit it.

I'm no scientist but when I was kid I heard CRAZY predictions. I have lived long enough to see these predictions not come to pass. I've learned that the experts are full of themselves and also are motivated to scare people. I can't take the alarmist seriously anymore. I do think there are serious problems with how we humans interact with our planet but the alarmists are way off. The really bad thing is because of the amount of dishonesty many people are anti-environmental in reaction. We have a hard time picking on the fact from predictions and bull shit.

Yep. That's pretty much how I feel too.
I do worry about how our activities could disrupt the complex systems that we rely on, but I'm also dismissive of the very specific fear-mongering that's based on shoddy science (if it's even based on science at all).
