Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend. I certainly enjoyed my weekend as I had a short day at work yesterday and a full day off today. Was happy to spend time with wife and kids, and also do some training for myself. But we are not here to discuss my weekend activities. Let's get right into it.
11 games in the NBA tonight, but it seems that there were no close games tonight.
The 76ers did not stand a chance against the Bucks without Embiid. Maxey had 24, but he was the only player on the 76ers with more than 20. Giannis got 30, Dame 24, and Beasley 20; naturally, the Bucks won by a comfortable margin. So comfortable that even Thanasis got to see some action.
The Suns beat the Lakers by 10 points. Suns came out strong, scoring 45 in the first quarter. Lakers fought their way back, and got close to tying the game in the 3rd, but the Suns pulled away again in the 4th and held the lead till the end. In the end, Suns had 4 guys score more than 20 points, and Nurkic got 18 points with a whopping 22 rebounds. That proved to be too much for the Lakers to handle.
The Pacers dominated the Mavs, beating them by 22 points. The Mavs battled and kept the game close most of the way, but would fall behind the Pacers by about 10 points late in the 3rd. But Luka and crew kept battling and got within 4 points behind the Pacers early in the 4th with just under 9 minutes left to play, during which the Pacers started to go on their run and never looked back. The rest is history.
The Cavaliers, who finally got their star Mitchell back, went on the beat the lowly Wizards. No surprises there, just another day in the NBA. Jordan Poole got 31 points though. Maybe he is trying to get back into the starting line up instead of coming off the bench. Let's see if his production can remain consistent.
Nuggets played the Warriors, another triple double for the Joker. This is the Joker's 3rd triple double in a row and today he got 32-16-16. The Warriors had the early lead, and kept the lead for most of the first half. But the Nuggets fought back and tied the game by half time. The 3rd was back and forth, but the Nuggets dominated the 4th and that was what decided the game. Nuggets ended up beating the Warriors by 16 points.
Like the Warriors, the Rockets came out strong versus the Thunder, took the lead early, and kept the lead for most of the first half and more than half of the 3rd quarter. It wasn't until later in the 3rd that the Thunder took their first lead since early in the 1st. Rockets kept close until the Thunder killed it in the 4th and ended up beating the Rockets by 13 points. 36 points for SGA. SGA for MVP, let's go!
Magic played the Hawks, with the Magic on their second night of back to back games. They also missed Banchero, as he was indicated to be out due to an illness. Trae Young is also out for the Hawks, as he was reported to have suffered a torn RCL in his fifth finger of his left hand and need to undergo surgery on Tuesday. He will be out for at least 4 week (Sauce). The Hawks still beat the Magic without Young under the leadership of Dejounte Murray, Jalen Johnson, and Bogdan Bogdanovic.
The dysfunctional and mediocre Bulls was able to beat the Pelicans by 8. It was probably the closest game of the day. Whenever one team tried to go on a run, the other team would catch up, and the game remained close. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the biggest lead was late in the 3rd when the Pels were up by 12 points. But the Bulls fought back and both teams were switching leads in the 4th, until halfway through the 4th when the Bulls got the lead and held onto the lead until the end. The Pels tried to fight back, but the Bulls kept scoring clutch shots and held off the Pels for the win.
The Hornets beat the Trail Blazers by 13. It was a low scoring game, probably not because both teams were playing good defense, but both teams were horrible at their 3 point shot. Hornets went for 7/24 at the 3 and the Trail Blazers went for a miserable 3/32 at the 3 (that is 9.4%!). As well, the Trail Blazers seem to be just throwing the ball towards the rim instead of actually trying to shoot, because they went for 33/95 in total field goals. There was a stretch of 5 minutes in the 4th where the Trail Blazers did not score even 1 point. Despite grabbing 22 offensive rebounds, when you shoot horribly like that, it's not likely that you will win the game. And naturally, the Trail Blazers lost.
Clippers lost to the Kings as De'Aaron Fox went for 33 points. Paul George did not play tonight, as reports said it was due to left knee soreness. Hopefully it's only a small issue and he will come back very soon, as I would really like to see the Clippers keep playing with full strength, deep into the playoffs. In other news, PJ Tucker saw some action second game in a row. Although tonight was only 5 minutes and much less than the 14 minutes he played last game versus the Grizzlies, at least he got some game time. Maybe all that complaining by Tucker actually works?
Finally we have the Spurs vs the Jazz. Another loss for the Spurs, which is to be expected. The Spurs as a team just sucks, too many below average players on the team making it hard for them to win versus any half decent team in the league. Yet, Wemby continues to shine despite losing and having sub-par teammates. Another double double for Wemby with 22 points and 10 rebounds; and yes, 5 blocks again, it's his 3rd game in a row with 5 blocks.
Speaking of Wemby blocks, it's time for my subjective play of the day. John Collins almost got his ball stolen by Wemby, but he recovers leaving Wemby behind him and off balance. Collins now thinking that he had passed Wemby, went up for an easy lay in. Little did he know, Wemby was able to recover and come from behind to block the easy lay in, making it the first of Wemby's 5 blocks tonight.
And just like that, the 11 game recap is done and my subjective play of the day chosen. Thank you for reading if you went through all of that; but no offense taken if you skipped the wall of text. I probably would skip it too and go straight for the YouTube video. Anyways, please feel free to comment below on anything you would like to add or anything you have in mind. Cheers and have a good night!

I glanced at the Western conference standings yesterday and noticed the 4 play in teams in the west could potentially be the Suns, Mavs, Lakers and Warriors. That's a lot of star power in the play in. Obviously still a lot of games to go and 5-8 are all within a half game but I am hoping for this outcome. That would be pretty exciting.

Yes, ever since the Lakers and Warriors started playing better again, they made things very interesting for the west play in spots. If things stay this way, it could possibly be the showdown of the stars for the play in games.
