4 games in the NBA today, not too many, but I'm glad to see the Raptors playing, and playing well. Raptors beat the Pacers today by 8 points. Barnes had a triple double, 21 points, 12 assists, and 12 rebounds. Barrett also had a pretty good game scoring 24. Haliburton only scored 9 points, which probably explains the Raptors victory. 13/42 for the Pacers' 3 point shot versus Raptors' 12/28 made a difference; plus Raptors had 78 points in the paint versus 50 points in the paint for the Pacers. Basically, the Raptors were trying to score more in the paint, while at the same time having a more efficient 3 point shot, which led to the win. Fun fact, Gradey Dick got 11 points in the 4th; Dick doesn't shrink under pressure because he is a true baller (I'm sorry, I had to slip this one in haha).
The Pistons vs Knicks game was very close at the end. There was a controversy near the end when DiVincenzo dove into Ausar Thompson's legs to get the ball back, which resulted in a basket by Josh Hart to put the Knicks ahead with almost no time left. DiVincenzo's dive was not called, but I agree with Monty Williams and probably numerous spectators that it was a blatant foul. You can't dive into another guy's legs like that; it was a foul and the refs did not call it. I guess the refs wanted to make sure the Knicks win, because who cares about the lowly Pistons, right? You judge for yourself if that play was a foul from the highlight clip below.
The Nets destroyed the Grizzlies, winning by 25 points. The Nets had 7 players in double digit points for the game. The Grizzlies shot 7/26 in 3s, and was 29/75 in field goals; their inability to score probably attributed to their tough loss.
The Heat ended the Kings' 3 game winning streak and beat them by 11 points. The game was relatively close throughout, and had numerous lead changes. The Heat started on a run late in the 3rd and look on the continue building on the lead in the 4th. But the Kings battled back and got within 2 points with about 3 minutes to play; however, the Heat continued to score and held off the Kings for the win.
For my subjective play of the day, both Precious Achiuwa and Isaiah Hartenstein went up for a block late in the Knicks vs Pistons game. I wasn't sure who actually blocked the ball, but they forced a stop on an alley-oop attempt by Jalen Duren to keep the Knicks' 1 point lead. Big hustle play.
