how well SN server or servers are prepared for upcoming huge traffic? I haven't noticed any slowdown. Good job.
reply

I don't expect traffic to be huge but I'd guess we are at least 2 orders of magnitude away from having to do something significant to deal with traffic.
The community is still tiny.

Damn, just saw that the Macy's in SF Union Square is closing... the shit-holification of SF continues.
Used to be such a beautiful area to bring friends from out of town. Amazing how one of the greatest cities in the world was ruined so quickly despite having all of the resources at its disposal. Truly top tier incompetency at work...

I have been using the Cashu address for more than two weeks now, here is my review πŸ₯œβš‘️
Features
  • private by default
  • no sign-up
Downside
  • no notifications
  • need to redeem the sats manually
  • no detailed transactions ( or it's a feature...)
Generally it's nice, and it changed from cashu.com to npub.cash since they got a new domain, but old users who bought the cashu.com Address are free to claim the npub.cash address too. ( so now I own both natalia@cashu.com and natalia@npub.cash )
I use it for Nostr atm, and once the zaps reach certain amounts, you can either redeem it over Cashu or LN - I usually choose LN, it would overcharge you some fee at first, then you claim the leftover with Cashu.
And anyone can have it πŸ₯œ Yours is <your_npub>@npub.cash πŸ₯œ, but if you want to have a human-readable address, you can get one with 5k sats.

Learning and creating bring deep happiness, yet consuming brings shallow happiness and is mostly short-lived.
Modern men keep consuming all day yet thinking why are they still unhappy? Because they're chasing those engineered desires rather than working on the real ones.
reply
So true. I know way too many people who are miserable after years of focusing on material consumption and neglecting everything else.

Stack Sats and stay humble Especially during big green candle times!

Paying off debt instead of buying bitcoin is my attempt at staying humble and increasing my resiliency so I never have to sell personal cold storage sats to pay any fiat bill!
reply
Just remember, if you can swing it keep existing long term fiat debt. The shit is depreciating so fast that the real cost of your debt is dropping every year, and there's more left each month for bitcoin. Oh, and the Sabres suck.
reply
Mind changed. Just the advice I needed to refocus. I can cover the payments with ease and the interest rates are very low. I just like the mindset of being debt free. But hold sats for now.
Yeah we do. Season been a big disappointment.
reply
I'm glad to hear it. I don't want to get too conspiratorial here, but I don't think it's an accident that we all grow up with this "debt is bad" and somehow a moral failure thing. I know it can be dangerous and it needs to be controlled, but governments and the really rich always have lots of debt. They love spending OPM (other people's money).
reply
Yeah this is true. Thanks for the clarity. I recent had a nice windfall of fiat and I was stuck on what I should do with it. Pay debt, buy Bitcoin, stay in high yield savings? Round and round my mind went.
reply
I have been there many times.

Good morning my friends!!! It's Tuesday innit? What a beautiful day indeed, for me, the day has begun and feel so energized, strategies are working out quite well so far, so let's keep it up. Maintain the focus and keep the eye on the ball, a week ago, it was a good week but could have been better, now with the right mindset, the strategies well thought and knowing what the end result I want for the end of the week is the right path for it, I wish you all a phenomenal day, may it be successful, fruitful, profitable and most of all with lots of love, you've got this my friend, remember that you're awesome and you're important. So go out there and show this week who's in charge and what you're capable of, I'm proud of you, keep on keeping on. As always, be well and stay frosty!!

guys, new feature to try - undo zaps
Go to setting - zap default - advanced - zap updos - done, and from now you got 5 seconds to change your mind for every sats that you zapped, it's really fun!
also, no more random daily rewards, so need to WORK every day now. πŸ˜‚
reply
It’s a nice feature to have BUT it goes against the spirit of self-responsibility and Bitcoin to some degree… once confirmed a transaction can’t be cancelled or undone. For me it’s preferable that Stacker Zappers be careful in the first place…
reply
I've been zapped several times by mistake. Once I wanted to click on the SN logo and zapped the post by mistake :)

I tried it all day yesterday, but I just turned it off. It's a good option, but I realized that I rarely zap accidentally, and I find that orange square at the bottom of the screen annoying. Maybe I'll use it once in a while, but not all the time.
reply
same and I agree! but this is good for those turbo zappers, when 100 accidentally became 10000 πŸ˜‚

Running your own bank is an ongoing journey - once you have figured out how to do simple deposits ( receive ) and withdrawals ( send ), decide how you would like to save your vault in cold wallets and spend with LN wallets ( with swap in and out in between ) then you also need to think how to be better equipped to deal with emergencies, and continually improving the operation:
  • do better labels
  • do better coin control
  • do better fee management
  • do better UTXO planning
And the most important part: learn how to protect your seeds and how to restore them in different situations, from a simple cold wallet to nodes with different types of seeds - as long as you keep the seeds well, your Bitcoin NEVER leaves you. 🧑
reply
I've never liked banks πŸ˜‚
reply
same, so you do a better job and get rid of them! but then it's quite fun when you are learning how to run your own, as it's also a journey of understanding yourself - how your money flows ( from where to where) or how you expect future spending, etc.
and after such a solid foundation, more peace of mind to think about how to grow the pile:)
reply
@sn should notify when someone edits a comment

hahah, did you try the undo zap btw, so much fun!

no. but i was one of those who asked for this feature and i've already used it :)

Was a good boy today. And gave up 10 mins of my free time so that I could pick my son earlier from the child care centre. He had time to run around the neighbourhood and play at the playground for a bit. That’s what he reported to my wife when we returned home. So, that extra 10 mins is mileage for making children happy! 😊
