I am Argentinean so we know we can't trust the Peso. But I would like to know what are Europeans thinking now that they lost the peg with the USD. Will you now extent part of your saving portfolios in USD or BTC? How much trust do you have to the Euro?
I recently just converted a good amount of my euros to dollars, and am buying BTC on every dip.

I never understood why anyone would exchange one fiat currency for another.
Except if it's trading/speculation/hedging.
But for everything long term and especially in personal finance it makes no sense. Fiat currencies go down by design.

Well if you look how ECB is dealing with things, negative interest rates for years, no sign of rate hikes, while they printed a lot during pandemic... at least the US is increasing rates now.
I would rather keep say 50% of cash in each (EUR, USD) than 100% EUR. Diversification.

Why do you have fiat in your asset allocation at all?

Maybe CBDCs will be how they get some more mileage out of this currency union:

now that they lost the peg with the USD.
The Euro has never been pegged to the value of the USD.
This is, however, the first time in about two decades that the dollar has been worth the same as a Euro.

Ok, "the peg" was a commmon term here although it's true what you say. However, how do Europeans feel about this? Are still confident in the Euro? At least it's better than going back to tens of currencies with its own monetary system and exchange rate. I don't think Spanish poeple would like to go back to the Pesetas. It will end on Euro, USD/Stables or BTC in my perspective.

This is the equivalent of a Sovereign default avoiding bail out and will inevitably lead to a #Euro break up.

There never was a peg with the USD. Literally. Look up the definition of this word.
