LOL and here I thought I was doing well for myself, I got a long ass way to go to be in the top 1%, South Africa does seem a bit low though, 109k isn't even going to get you into a decent neighborhood in Cape Town, maybe in other provinces yes, from what I've read from local reports it would be closer to 211k to be in the top 10% and 800k to in the top 1% locally

Given that Singapore constantly ranks among the top 10 most expensive countries, $3.5 million for the top 1% almost seems too little haha

NZ only has a population of 5.25 million and has some of the most expensive real estate of any country. Coupled with low immigration (no one is walking across a border or sailing a dingy in to NZ). Low housing construction.
This has lead to a huge property bubble over the last 20 years, where most house prices in Auckland start at the NZD$1 million where 1.5 million people live, 28% of the pop. Large amounts of high net worth overseas investors, especially from China and other asian countries have led to a house price increases especially in Akl. This has led to a knock on effect in other NZ cities as cashed up Aucklanders have left for cheaper properties elsewhere and lifted those high prices up as well.

Interesting
It puts a few things in perspective doesn't it. An average net worth in one country could put you up the top of another country.

yeah important to note that there are 3 million Americans worth more than $5 million each, in that context it sounds pretty substantial to me.
