You don't have to mess with terminals or be a tech wizard to run Linux.
Distros like Ubunto and Linux Mint can be used and enjoyed by everyone and anyone.
ZorinOS is also an excellent option for beginners because it mimics Windows/MacOS appearance and user experience, making the transition almost seamless.
Most software you are currently using on a daily basis are also compatible with Linux. You can even run Windows apps directly on Linux, using the Wine compatibility layer. There are free and ~opensource alternatives for everything you can think of. If you are into gaming, most Steam games are also playable on Linux.
Linux is way more lightweight and offers greater ~privacy, ~security and freedom than Windows or MacOS.
