So for those of you who made new years resolutions to lose weight, you probably forgot about that by now, but look its a resolution for the whole year. Every day is a battle and you don't fail just because you missed a month or 6 or haven't bothered for years. Every day is a choice to do better.
When you work out, but don't eat healthy
Did you know that the USDA has CSV and .json files with nutrition information of all food sold commercially? Its called Fooddata Central and you can find it right here: https://fdc.nal.usda.gov/download-datasets.html
So I decided to search up FOSS projects that take advantage of this database (because we certainly don't want 3rd parties taking our health information to sell to insurance companies to jack up prices on us) and I feel like I found a pretty good one, but if you have a better one, feel free to share it!
This FOSS project is called "Cookwhereever" https://github.com/cookwherever/cookwherever its MIT licensed, mostly written in javascript, and features cooking recipes matched with food ingredients.
The author's rant about cooking https://gist.github.com/breadchris/e09c92c46c6af9a96028a945108ef7d4 really shows that the project author is enthusiastic about cooking and WANTS to teach you how to cook for those of you who don't know already.
Do you like this resource? Do you know of a better one? Do you feel like you could do better? Let me know in the comments!
