8 games in the NBA today. It's been another busy day for me, so today's recap will be a brief-brief one again. Let's first look at the results for tonight.
Bucks beat Hornets 111-99 Magic beat Jazz 115-107 Nets beat Hawks 124-97 Warriors beat Knicks 110-99 Spurs beat Thunder 132-118 Suns beat Rockets 110-105 Nuggets beat Heat 103-97 Lakers beat Wizards 134-131
I would say all games had expected results, with the exception of the Spurs versus Thunder game, more on that later. The lowly Wizards took the Lakers to OT, but the Lakers, despite being on the second night of a back to back, got the job done in OT. AD had 40 points, 15 rebounds. LeBron had 31; not bad considering that he played 37 hard minutes last night against the Clippers and another 39 minutes tonight, doing all this in his 21st season.
But tonight's highlight for me was the Spurs vs Thunder game. We saw a great battle between the two hottest ROTY candidates. Best thing was Chet and Wemby were going at it at one another, both not hiding or backing down. As if both of them wanted to make the statement, that he himself is ROTY. Chet had 23 points, 5 assists, 7 rebounds, and 1 block. Wemby had 28 points (5 3pointers), 7 assists, 13 rebounds, and 5 blocks. It seems Wemby got the edge in this battle, plus the biggest stat line that matters, Spurs won it 132 to 118. It's always fun to see an underdog battle hard and win, especially an underdog that had been losing a lot. Regardless of who wins ROTY, I feel that the NBA has a fun and entertaining future with upcoming players like Chet and Wemby playing in the league. Of course, we must not forget shout out my fellow Canadian SGA, with another 30+ point game, tonight with 31. That SGA dunk in the 3rd quarter at around 8:40 left was nasty!
As to my subjective play of the day, two exclamation marks to put an end to the game. Well played, Wemby.
Thank you for reading my recap. Feel free to leave a comment to discuss anything you have in mind. Cheers and have a good night!
I heard someone predict that Wemby is going to normalize the 5x5.

Definitely possible for an athletic big like him. He's already pretty good at passing, scoring and rebounding is a no brainer. He's also getting 5 blocks on the regular. The only stat that he might not get all the time is steals, but with such long arms / long wingspan, I can definitely see him getting more than usual steals as well. So yes, as he get better, he might become the walking living 5x5.
