The crash in real estate prices in some countries has hit the banks particularly hard. Balance sheet contractions quickly turn into banking crises. But rescue is at hand: the re-flating seems to be working, the asset bubbles are being inflated again and the old problem, which is turning into a socio-economic drama for many middle class people, is entering the next round.
