Exactly, I loved all of those, I always thought it was a great setup for a story that can go in all kinds of different directions, which is sort of what I'm doing here. Derivative is not negative. Derivative and insufficiently unique is worthy of derision.
Romance stories are all the same, detective stories are all the same, westerns are all the same, if you zoom out far enough. Nothing new under the sun, and there are certain story setups that are very fertile ground, this is one that interested me.

I actually didn't think of that while writing, but it did cross my mind after. ETF's are quite different to real world art, in all the aspects discussed in the story - cost to secure, ability to hold value through time. No real comparison. There's some chance ETF's would be valued worldwide as universal cultural icons for their ability to show the pinnacles of human artistic achievement, like museum art... but I have my doubts. Perhaps that distinction will enter the story later. Or perhaps Forenza / Tilney's confidence in art as wealth protection will be achilles. We shall see! Bring those ideas as you have them :ThumbsUp:
