On the other hand Capitalism provided more choice for Serranos, Habaneros, Reapers etc. than ever. Think back 10 or 20 years ago - what peppers do you remember in common grocery isle?

I like peppers (hottest I can go is habanero), but I find that Jalapenos have the greatest variation in heat level.
Sometimes you get a Jalapeno that taste like a bell pepper and other times can be close to a Serrano....I assume that its this GMO efforts that results in wide variation.
