I thought the trend of mobs of people trying to get rid of speakers at universities had died down, but seems like that’s not the case…

The waves are interesting. First, it's the War on Terror (I assume), then it's Woke Cancel Culture. It looks like that was dying down, although maybe it's just that Covid shut down a lot of campuses.
I'd be curious if the recent spike is a continuation of the old woke stuff or if it's more about the Ukraine/Russia and Israel/Palestine conflicts.

yeah it would be cool to see the changing topics of concern overlaid on this chart.
we’re only a couple months into 2024 and it looks like there have already been 28 recorded deplatforming attempts, almost all of them related to Israel/Palestine with a couple others related to abortion.

It does feel like that first wave of cancel culture lost its steam. Israel/Palestine is fascinating, because people are getting cancelled for being on either side of it.

When I was a younger man I would think about the conflicts between people with opposing views. Of course I have always thought my current views are the correct ones but I would also try to think. How can we solve this? What is the solution? Once I went down the libertarian and anarchist rabbit hole I started to see the only real solution is to stop using the "public's" funds to do these types of things. That is really where most of the conflict comes from. "I don't want my money being used to promote __".
I'm not saying privately funded institutions would not have conflict they would but really with something is funded by the state using "the people's" money, people are well within reason to complain about how their money is being used. But that's the lie. The people in power don't think that way. They don't think its our money.
So, I landed on this. We will always have conflicts. We will always have people that have no time for those they disagree with. There will always be hate. There will always be these things. If we could agree on this and think, hmmm given this what action should we take?
Maybe we should agree to disagree. Stop stealing people's money, to pay for our pet idea. Instead voluntarily fund what we think should be funded. Leave each other alone. As long as a person is not committing violence against me or threatening to do so it really isn't my business what they say or believe. Live and let live. We currently see the alternative of that all around us. Using the state to force others to live as the state see's acceptable. The politician's use this to gain money and support. They keep us at each other's throats. This is why I do not play that game any more. It only benefits the psychopaths in the state and the elites they work for.

When I realized that the solution for so many political conflicts was as simple as removing government monopoly control, a light bulb turned on. It became VERY clear that the vast majority of politics and politicians have zero interest in solutions. They conflict to show their value, or rather to trick the masses into believing they aren't just leaches sucking off the life of the nation.
