Mutiny wallet is a LDK node for mobile. But require to run a LDK node and a backend server on another machine, using your own domain.

Also can be run on default domain app.mutinywallet.com that comes pre-configured in the app. Yes, you control the node wallet keys, but you do not control the domain where the node is actually running. If that domain goes busted, yes you can recover your funds, but you need to do some not so easy steps. Not easy for a noob.

I am wondering how many Mutiny users are running their own Mutiny server / node.

YES - comes with bundle node8.1%
YES - I install and maintain it myself5.4%
NO - I run default app.mutinywallet.com86.5%

Wow, didn't know you could run that yourself. That is amazing. Definitely going to look into this.

I haven't felt the need for that yet. I've been able to do everything I need to do with Alby. I just have to be careful not to leave too many sats there. It covers all my needs. If I ever feel the need, I'll open a channel.

Do you run a core node tho?

reply

I'm a Bitcoin Core user, but I only fire it up when I need to send or receive Bitcoin.

reply

tsk tsk tsk So you're a leecher not a seeder. You don't affect mempool propagation or block propagation.

Well at least you verify you're on the right chain.

Given my usage, it doesn't make sense to have the node online all day. Energy costs are high here.

What do the results look like so far?

reply

I don't run a node because I don't seriously use Mutiny yet. If it becomes a wallet that I use regularly, then I will go forth and run my own backend.

Any tutorials to run your own node for mutiny (for noobies)?
