"Animals should be rewarded for not being people." -April Ludgate
A while ago, I wanted to ask whether people would prefer a world without other people or a world without dogs. I had to think how to craft this question, though, since dogs are so dependent on people. If there were no people, dogs would quickly turn back into wolves and I'd certainly rather be around other people than alone in a world full of wolves.
So, would you prefer a world without dogs or a world without anyone who's "not a dog person"?

Can teach my dog a trick in a few days, can't teach my family to use Bitcoin
reply
Can we get a world with just dogs and bitcoiners?
reply
If all non-bitcoiners were eliminated, there would be very few people left. Maybe it would be a better world ;)
reply
Guess we need more bitcoiners then!
reply
For one generation maybe. The lack of women and children probably wouldn't play out well in the long run.
reply
Bitcoiners' wives/girlfriends and children could stay :)
reply
There you go.
reply
Haha
reply
Maybe someday when our numbers are larger. As of right now, that would quickly become a world of bitcoiners surrounded by wolves.
I also wanted to craft this in a way that let's children make the cut, since kids almost universally love dogs.

Ground ball for me.

All right answers so far.

This is a real Thanos snap of a question. I do love dogs, but the imagery of a preference-based rapture is also very intriguing.
I'm voting for a world without dogs because I believe we all are made in imago Dei, even though many work hard not to be.
reply
I believe we all are made in imago Dei
I just don't see how that could be true of someone who doesn't like dogs, but I guess that's what faith is for.
reply
I think everyone likes dogs. It's just an unfortunate few that don't know it yet.
reply
Sadly, it seems to be a real affliction. As a slight aside, I believe it is an actual mental disorder to not like dogs, considering our coevolution with them.
reply
Interesting! I can buy that. I also can't help but think that we are still equipped with a dose of fear, paranoia, and general otherness when it comes to dogs. Maybe an aspect of our evolution was in suppressing those feelings, not necessarily eliminating them.
Moving your slight aside a bit further to the side, do you think those people who love snakes also have a mental disorder considering how they are a natural enemy of in our primate ancestry?
reply
I hadn't given them much thought, but they do seem like a real menace to the tribe. :)
My guess is that snake people, and other risk seekers, are an adaptive minority. If everyone always played it safe, we probably wouldn't have tamed fire or domesticated dangerous animals in the first place.

I doubt if there's someone who doesn't love dogs? I am proud to have a couple of GSD staying with Me. They always wait for me unlike our human companions.
reply
For tomorrow and for the love of dog.

Early results show that the news media has poisoned your minds. Stories of wrongdoing dominate the news, yet most people are good and trying their best! Even non-dog people are highly productive with families and jobs and love for many others.

Dogs have earned the title of man's best friend, and it's easy to see why. Their loyalty, companionship, and unconditional love make them an essential part of our lives. A world without dogs would be a much lonelier place.
reply
I like dogs. I don't like the trend of us replacing people with dogs though.
reply
So you'd let the "I'm not a dog person" people win? For shame

lol I will not participate in this holocaust in either way.
reply
If you don't choose all the dog people will disappear, leaving a very suboptimal situation for dogs and the remaining humans.

the eternal question of man versus canine. If we're to follow April Ludgate's logic, indeed, every creature deserves a medal for not being human. But then, what makes being human so special if not for our ability to appreciate the unspoken bond we share with our four-legged friends?
Without dogs, we lose out on the pure, unadulterated joy that comes from a wagging tail at the end of a long day. I think without dogs our world would be very depressing

DOG }{ GOD

definitely without the love haters. says something about someone's heart when they don't like animals.
