The number of employed persons in the United States fell by 184,000, and full-time workers fell by 187,000. But Joe Biden tells us things are booming.
I see the US is trying the Canadian playbook. Paper over all the private sector job losses with more useless public sector jobs.

That's what FDR did, but I suppose he was born in Canada.

Wasn't FDR born in Canada? His plan to combat the Great Depression was to radically increase public sector jobs. There was so much expansion, people just referred to it as "The Alphabet Agencies".
One of the reasons was pretty smart actually. He wanted to send all the unemployed young men out to the middle of nowhere to build trails and parks, because he was concerned about them violently revolting if left to their own devices.
Incidentally, that's the same reason Saudi Arabia sends all of its young men abroad for college.
