I've heard it from Odell some two years ago that Sunday is the cheapest. Since than we experienced a long-lasting spam attack. Does it still hold true?

It has been my experience also. Saturday night / Sunday morning for most in Western time zones.
By Sunday evening, typically the ship has sailed ⛵️
Doesn’t mean waiting a week won’t be cheaper however.
