FML. Went to Japan and my SN routine got jacked up. 😢 Too much shit to do in this amazing country.
Congrats to whoever jumped into the top 10 because of me.
If ever there was a legitimate excuse to get out of the saddle, this is it. Enjoy the rest of your time 🇯🇵

Japan is one of the best places on earth to experience an earthquake. It’s also one of the best places on earth to lose your cowboy hat 🤠.
Japan’s worth it! Pls accept my 108 sats and picture of my tonkatsu lunch to appease your pain slightly.
N pls post about your adventures! Where are you at now?

Japan is one of the best places on earth to experience an earthquake.
I know a woman from Kobe, there in 1995, who emphatically does not share this perspective.
reply
Where does she think the best place to lose your cowboy hat is?
reply
Not sure, unlike what she said about Kobe, she never related stories to me of the devastating impact to her family, her community, and her life that losing a cowboy hat had. Maybe one day you can ask her that question yourself.

One of us has seriously misread this room.

I got a yakuniku lunch set today for <$7. Crazy… I wanted to tip them so badly. Might have been close to the tip for a similar meal in California.
Crazy how much culture makes a difference in people’s attitudes… SF seems like a third world country by comparison. So safe and no need to lock up merchandise.

I think on the contrary, some Japanese people would feel insulted if you try to tip them. They take a lot of pride in their work.
A Japanese friend once claimed that you can just leave your belongings unattended in Japan, go somewhere and find them intact. I was critical, but having lived in Japan for two years, I have come to realise the truth of his absolute statement
Have fun living it up for us!

Yup I have not been tipping (which makes things so much cheaper than I anticipate, I have tax then tip priced in my head) but I feel bad they work so hard to make such amazing food for so little! I have been paying more for the drinks and snacks than full meals.
It’s so crazy to me that almost everyone just leaves their bikes unlocked. Amazing community culture.

The thing that blew my mind was that no one crossed the road even when no vehicles were approaching just because there was a red light 🚦 .
I just cannot. I will just jaywalk even if I feel their eyes staring daggers at me 🗡️ haha
